Fritz Hansen’s Slide table mirror consists of a round mirror with a wooden base, both standing on a concrete container that offers ample storage space for hairpins, jewellery or make-up pads. The name Slide refers to the mirror’s construction: the wooden part can be moved along the concrete to hide or display whatever is stored inside it.
The Slide mirror is designed by Karin Nakamura. The design was conceived as a result of a collaboration between Fritz Hansen and Central St. Martins College of Art in London, when Christian Andresen, Fritz Hansen’s Head of Design, acted as Nakamura’s mentor. As a nod to Fritz Hansen’s design philosophy and materiality, Slide’s streamlined form is designed to emphasize the beauty and texture of each material: smoked glass, ash wood and hand-cast concrete.
